September 4, 2022 Seek God's Wisdom

PRAYER:  This week it seems to me… our readings call us to focus on God’s wisdom ….  which is often different from what we would ask for ourselves… Our first reading from Wisdom starts:  “Who can know God’s counsel or who can conceive what the Lord intends?”  We are reminded that God does give counsel and wisdom to us and he “sends his holy spirit from on high”.

In our reading from Luke we see that “Great crowds were traveling with Jesus… “.  How different from our days, though Jesus retains his great power, wisdom and attraction.  Jesus tells the crowds how to be his disciple:  “carry your cross and come after me…” and to put Jesus ahead of all possessions and even family.

We pray:  Lord let your face shine upon us, your servants, and give us the wisdom and strength to follow you as disciples at Holy Name of Jesus in Chicopee.

PARISH MAINTENANCE :  The asbestos in the way of installing the replacement section of the boiler for the church has been removed.  The contractor has about 1 day of work to install the new section.

We continue to study, discuss and work to put together a phased approach to Assumption Church repairs and improvements… as we work at the same time to build up the people part of the parish.

ONGOING MISSION/EVANGELIZATION/GROWTH:  I will lead a Catholic Men’s group called THAT MAN IS YOU on Saturdays from 7:00 – 8:30 am; starting on September 17, 2022 in the Parish Offices.

We are looking for a person, or persons, to lead our Youth Faith Formation for about 20 hours per week to keep up our momentum with parent involved- youth faith formation and middle school ministry program.

Peace of Christ,

Deacon David Southworth, Parish Manager
