Sept 5, 2021 - Be Strong, Fear Not

PRAYER:  “He makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.” The people of the Decapolis say about Jesus in today’s Gospel reading from Mark…. How in my life am I “not listening…?”  Maybe to someone near me… or maybe I’m not listening to God!... Let’s ask Jesus to help us “hear” what we need to hear!.... and let’s ask Jesus to help us say the things that we need to say….. Let’s ask Jesus to help us with our “speech” to those around us..

PARISH MAINTENANCE:  Always something in a 100 year old Church building….. Of course we worked through the heating oil leak a year or so ago.  We now find we have a leak in one of the chambers of the boiler in the basement of Assumption Church.  We are working to find out the cost and timetable to get it repaired.

PARISH ONGOING MISSION/EVANGELIZATION/GROWTH:  “Be strong, fear not!” Isaiah says to those whose hearts are frightened in our 1st reading today from the Prophet Isaiah.  Sometimes I focus too much on the obstacles around me… I can get down…. Then I need to remember that God is with me (and you)…. And that “Here is your God, he comes with vindication; with divine recompense  he comes to save you.”  God is with us… God has got this… God’s love is all powerful!... We CAN reach out successfully to our youth and families!

Peace be with you and your family!

Deacon David Southworth, Parish Administrator
