PRAYER: I intentionally start this weekly reflection with PRAYER. As Christians we always start with prayer (as well as continuing with prayer and finishing with prayer). “Pray and Work” is St Benedict’s guide to a happy healthy monastery. It’s also the best way to a happy and healthy personal life… and a happy and healthy parish! Our Responsorial Psalm 126 reminds us: “The Lord has done great things for us; we are filled with joy.”
PARISH MAINTENANCE: We sent out specs for repaving Calvary Cemetery main road but got no responses. We have to look at it to understand if its too close to winter and the close of the paving season or if our specifications were “too tough”. We will investigate and figure out the best way to proceed to get the paving done.
PARISH ONGOING MISSION/EVANGELIZATION/GROWTH: We need to use all our resources carefully… but generously to build up the Body of Christ. Here at Holy Name of Jesus at Assumption Church we have a great downstairs hall. We have slowly but surely allowed various 12-step recovery programs to use our hall. Now between Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous we have groups using our hall Mon, Tu, We, Th nights (sometimes 2 groups); Mon, Wed, Fri noon; Tues at 10am! The Church loves people making progress with their lives! Step 2 of the 12 Steps: “Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.” Step 3: “Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.” Good advice for all Christians!!
Peace be with you and your family!
