May 8, 2022 Filled with joy & Holy Spirit!

PRAYER:  Our gospel reading this week from John is one of the shortest of the year, just 3 verses.  But like all scripture it is powerful if we listen and read it with our hearts open.  Jesus says:  “I give my (sheep, my followers) eternal life, and they shall never perish.  No one can take them out of my hand.”  What a dramatic and reassuring passage!... God has made us and we belong to Him…. He will lead us and guide us.

And we see the all-time collision of the message of God… and prevailing politics and worldly concerns… in our first reading as Paul and Barnabas reach Antioch in Psidia and proclaim the word of the Lord boldly.  But the crowds were filled with jealousy and violent abuse.  But:  “All who were destined for eternal life came to believe, and the word of the Lord continued to spread through the whole region….. The disciples were filled with joy and the Holy Spirit.”  !!!

PARISH MAINTENANCE:   Thanks for everyone’s continued giving for the maintenance of these old buildings!  We have 2 good bids for the repaving project at Calvary Cemetery and we are waiting for the Diocesan Building Commission to give us the green light to award the contract

PARISH ONGOING MISSION/EVANGELIZATION/GROWTH:  Its summed up:  “All who were destined for eternal life came to believe, and the word of the Lord continued to spread through the whole region….. The disciples were filled with joy and the Holy Spirit.”  !!!

Let’s keep reaching out to those around us, especially Youth and Young Families!

Peace of Christ,

Deacon David Southworth, Parish Manager
