PRAYER: Saint Augustine said: “If you love God… you can do anything you want!”… Now there is freedom!....
We get a similar wisdom from St Paul this week in our second reading, Paul’s Letter to the Galatians. “Brothers and sisters: For freedom Chris set us free; so stand firm and do not submit again to the yoke of slavery. For you were called for freedom, brothers and sisters.”
How does Paul suggest we live this “freedom”? Paul says: “I say, then: live by the Spirit….”
When we ask the Holy Spirit’s guidance actively…. As we affirm our love for God…. We can live a more free and joyful life!
PARISH MAINTENANCE: The broker buying the items of value from Holy Name of Jesus Church on South Street is progressing and almost finished. He has removed the marble side altars, stained glass windows from the main church, pews, hanging lamps and woodwork around the organ, choir loft and walls. Sad as it is to see that beautiful church dismantled…. It is good to know that they will be used again in worship somewhere else.
PARISH ONGOING MISSION/EVANGELIZATION/GROWTH: Catholics in New England continue to work against the headwinds of …. Secularization, Covid and general apathy to actively having God in our lives… I think we made a good pivot to getting parents more involved in their kids faith formation and starting a Middle School Ministry.
Peace of Christ,
Deacon David Southworth, Parish Manager
