July 3, 2020 Know God's Love

PRAYER:  As Christians, we live with 2 realities at the same time.  We live IN the world… but we also live IN the reality of the Lord’s continuous love for us.  This is an ongoing tension.  Sometimes the stresses and anxieties of the world can come to the fore in our lives…. Then we need to remember God’s love for us, and pray more, and read scripture.

Isaiah in our first reading hears the Lord saying:  “Lo, I will spread prosperity over Jerusalem like a river…. In Jerusalem you shall find your comfort… the Lord’s power shall be known to his servants.

The Gospel Acclamation after the “Alleliua” verses is:  “Let the peace of Christ control your hearts…” (Colossians 3:15)

We see Jesus in our Gospel reading sending the disciples out to the towns with the message:  “Peace to this household” !!!

Let us live our lives in THIS world…. But always knowing at the same time that we are with the Lord’s power, the peace of Christ controls our hearts, and Jesus’ peace is available to us!

PARISH MAINTENANCE:   The Parish Council is wrestling with what to do with the news that the boiler in the church can not be used for another heating season.

PARISH ONGOING MISSION/EVANGELIZATION/GROWTH:  We live IN the world … and we see all the problems and challenges.  So much of the world around us denies or ignores that there is a God.  But our job, like the 72 is to remain faithful to God the Father, Jesus and use the Holy Spirit to animate us to know God’s love better ourselves…. And then to share that love with youth and families.

Peace of Christ,

Deacon David Southworth, Parish Manager
