PRAYER: Let us do a self- check this 3rd Sunday of Advent…. Where is the JOY in our lives?.... Can we say with Zephaniah: “Shout for joy; O daughter Zion! Sing joyfully, O Israel?”… Can we hear St Paul’s message to the Philippians: “Brothers and sisters: Rejoice in the Lord always. I shall say it again: rejoice!”…. Can we believe John the Baptist’s message: “…one mightier than I is coming…. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”
Let us be “joyful Catholics”!!.... and all else will fall into place as God wants.
PARISH MAINTENANCE: We continue to try to manage the resources we have in a prudent way realizing we are a small parish with current limited resources, although we all participate in the abundance of God’s love. We have some savings now with the sale of the St Patrick’s rectory and the sale of some items from Holy Name of Jesus Church. We are making an investment in more staff and effort to support our youth and families as they grow in the Faith with our Generations of Faith approach to Faith Formation.
PARISH ONGOING MISSION/EVANGELIZATION/GROWTH: We had our 2nd Generations of Faith Sunday December 5… it was great to have 132 at mass at the 10:30 am mass! This is one small step to a more vibrant parish. Donna Marotto, our Faith Formation Coordinator is working to get a Middle-School Youth Group up and going. We are looking at collaborating with St Rose de Lima parish (and possibly other Chicopee parishes) as we discuss getting this youth group up and running. We are looking to use material from LifeTeen’s “Edge” for middle school.
Advent greetings to you and yours!
