August 21, 2022 Go tell the Good News

PRAYER:  We have to remember, folks, that we all want to :”recline at the table in the kingdom of God”… as Jesus teaches in the towns and villages as he makes his way to Jerusalem (to his death).  Jesus says people will come from all over to be connected with God!... Do we yearn to be connected with God so well that we have joy and deep peace???

The prophet Isaiah hears the Lord saying that He comes to “gather nations of every language; they shall come and see my glory.”  The Responsorial Psalm sums it up:  “Go out to all the world and tell the Good News.”!!!

We have a reprieve as a Parish… we are not being shut down despite our challenges… We can thrive if we take seriously the task of “going out to the world and telling the Good News”… Our world is starving for Good News…. There is so much anxiety, stress, bullying, worry…. Addiction, thoughts of suicide, depression…. Connecting with God is not magic… but putting God’s Love for us back in our lives helps us to live WITH the power of God and Jesus… Let us build an outreach to youth and families using tried and true Catholic messages and ways!  Let us keep our hopes and dreams as a parish in our prayers!!

PARISH MAINTENANCE :  We are hoping the broker will buy the altar from the Holy Name School Convent Chapel that is in crates in the detached garage, after all these years.

ONGOING MISSION/EVANGELIZATION/GROWTH:  I will lead a Catholic Men’s group called THAT MAN IS YOU starting in September early in the morning… more details to follow.

We are looking for a person, or persons, to lead our Youth Faith Formation for about 20 hours per week to keep up our momentum with parent involved- youth faith formation and middle school ministry program.

Peace of Christ,

Deacon David Southworth, Parish Manager
