Aug 22, 2021 - "we will serve the Lord"

PRAYER:  Our first reading from the Book of Joshua this week has the famous declaration of Joshua:  “As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” ….. Am I serving the Lord?.... are you serving the Lord?.... What does it mean to ‘serve the Lord’ today?... Joshua and the tribes of Israel were at a decision point…. Did they have the will and courage to go forward trusting in the love and care for them that the Lord had shown and continued to show?...... Do we, can we totally trust in the Lord… who loves us and cares for us?

PARISH MAINTENANCE:  There is a beautiful oriental rug in Holy Name Church on South Street that we just had cleaned.  We hoped it might be able to go in front of the altar at Assumption Church.  Unfortunately, I think it is too big to go there.

PARISH ONGOING MISSION/EVANGELIZATION/GROWTH:   Let’s stay close to the Lord… close to the Holy Spirit.  Can we say with Peter, in our Gospel reading this week from John, as he addresses Jesus: “Master, to whom shall we go?  You have the words of eternal life.”

Peace be with you and your family!
